A test signal (d) is generated that corresponds to an operating temperature that prevails in a vaporizer. A sequence of control pulses (g) is generated by using the test signal and their pulse width corresponds to the operating temperature. A water supply device (9) is triggered by means of the control pulses. An Independent claim is also included for a device for generating steam for keeping washing/laundry hygienic.
