PURPOSE: A hair conditioning composition is provided, which has improved hair conditioning effect, gives improved softness and smoothness to hair, and improves hair setting. CONSTITUTION: The hair conditioning composition comprises (a) 0.2 to 3 wt.% of cationic compound of formula (1); (b) 1 to 15 wt.% of oily materials; and (c) 0.2 to 3 wt.% of silicon, wherein R1, R2, R3 and R5 are independently C1-20 optionally saturated chain, C1-20 optionally saturated benzyl, C1-20 optionally saturated hydroxyl ethyl, C1-20 optionally saturated ethyl oxide, or 1-20 of propylene oxide added hydroxyl ethyl; R4 is C1-20 alkyl, C1-20 ethylene oxide, 1-10 of C1-20 propylene oxide added alkyl, or at least one hydroxyl combined alkyl; X is halogen, sulfate or acetate; n is an integer of 1 to 20; the oily material is selected from olive oil, camellia oil, macadamia nut oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, bees wax, lanolin, liquid paraffins, paraffin, microcrystalline wax, squalane, isopropyl myristate, 2-octyldodecyl myristate, cetyl 2-ethyl hexanoate, and diisostearyl maleate; and the silicon is selected from dimethicone, amodimethicone, dimethyl methicone and silicon elastomers having viscosity of 100 to 300,000 cst.
