PURPOSE: Provided is a process of physically reforming a paper fiber which significantly heightens the physical properties of the chemical pulp and the old corrugated containers, such as tensile or tear strength, under the same water retention degree. CONSTITUTION: The paper fiber reforming process comprises pulping and selecting fiber, concentrating the selected, and physically pre-treating the concentrated. With the physical pre-treatment process, the inlet-sided concentration of the concentrated fiber to be pre-treated is established to be 15-35%, and the outlet-sided temperature thereof to be 30 deg.C. The fiber is micro-compressed under the application of compressing and shearing forces such that the curl index thereof is increased by 0.03 or more.
