The invention relates to a device for separating a document, such as a ticket or card, into two parts. According to the invention, the document is conveyed towards the separating device (20) by means of a conveyor belt or similar, a separating member (71) being disposed close to the outlet of the conveyor. The aforementioned separating member (71) can move between a position at a distance from the trajectory of the document and a position in which it crosses said trajectory in order to separate the document in two. The inventive device (20) is characterised in that it comprises a guide (70) which is disposed opposite the outlet of the conveyor in order to guide the movement of the document between the conveyor outlet and another outlet (5). Moreover, said guide (70) can move between a position at a distance from the conveyor outlet, in which the separating member (71) is in the spaced position, and a position adjacent to the conveyor outlet, in which the separating member (71) is in the position in which it crosses the trajectory of the document in order to separate same in two.
