PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting-off apparatus and a cutting-off means of a string-like press-drawing medicine by which the string-like press-drawing medicine is fed smoothly without turning off the string-like press-drawing medicine on the way, and cutting-off with good accuracy to a constant length is carried out. SOLUTION: The cutting-off apparatus of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 obtained from a gas generating agent is provided with a feeding unit 13 for feeding the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 continuously, a cutting-off mechanism 14 for cutting-off the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 to the constant length, a looseness amount detecting sensor 15 for detecting the looseness amount of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 in the looseness portion 17 of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12, and a controlling unit 16 for controlling a cutting-off speed due to the feeding speed and the cutting-off mechanism 14 of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12. The controlling unit 16 is used to vary the frequency of an invertor motor based on the looseness amount of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 detected by the looseness amount detecting sensor 15, and to adjust the feeding speed of the string-like press-drawing medicine 12 driven by the invertor motor and the cutting-off speed due to the cutting-off mechanism 14 driven by the invertor motor.
