<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of performing edge enhancement processing by allowing for an edge direction in enhancing the edges of digital picture data and capable of controlling a line reproducing state without having effect on the quality of an image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing method is provided with an edge direction decision step (S1) for deciding the edge direction of the digital picture data, an average density acquiring step (S2) for finding average density in three areas having edges around a notice pixel selected on the basis of the decision results of the step (S1) as boundaries, a threshold setting step (S3) for setting thresholds of the three areas having the edges as boundaries, and a density control step (S4) for controlling the density of the notice pixel in the digital picture data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
