PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the amount of sulfur compounds contained in the gas produced by burning of coke by air existed in a pre-chamber of coke dry quenching equipment. SOLUTION: This method for reducing the amount of sulfur compounds contained in the gas in the coke dry quenching equipment is to throw 30-650g lime, which contains at least 10 wt% lime whose grain diameter is not more than 10mm, per one ton coke into the pre-chamber 105, which is a space of the coke dry quenching equipment 101 for receiving red-heat coke, and/or into a bucket car 102.
