ROOF ANCHOR

The disclosure is a roof anchor (52) for use on a building and for providing an anchor point for safety lines and harnesses used by workers. The roof anchor (52) has a top shaft member (56) which connects two side members (37, 37A). The side members (37, 37A) are spaced in order to be located each on an opposite side of the building frame member (53). Secondary locking means, (57) such as bolts, are located under the building frame member (53). The space between the side plate members (37, 37A) is preferably adjustable. An anchor member (58) is rotatably mounted to the top member (56) between the two side members (37, 37A). The anchor member (58) has line engaging adaptations such as an eyelet (59). The anchor member (58) also has gripping means (68, 69) for contacting the building frame member (53) to resist rotation of the anchor member (58) and thereby clamp the roof anchor (52) to the building frame member (53). The gripping means (68, 69) is preferably formed as a toothed surface.
