<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly device management system for increasing overall service life of network devices. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of network printers 200 and a printer management server 100 are communicably connected. The network printer 200 detects a residual amount of toner or the like, and transmits status information including the detected residual amount of the toner or the like to the printer management server 100. The printer management server 100 receives the status information, produces exchange guidance information showing that a network printer 200 having a large residual amount of the toner or the like and a network printer 200 having a small residual amount of the toner or the like must be positionally exchanged, on the basis of the received status information, and exhibits the produced exchange guidance information according to an exhibition request. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
