The data transmission and reception device has a transmission stage with a transmission coil (2) for transmission of data and a reception stage with a reception coil (4) for reception of data, the transmission and reception coils wound around a common core (3), so that the reception coil is energized by transmission of data by the transmission coil. The reception coil is separated from a receiver (9) by a protection circuit with a capacitor (6) in series with 2 anti-parallel diodes (7,8).
