There is provided an extrusion bonded nonwoven elastic film laminate comprising an elastomeric film directly bonded to at least one nonwoven web layer where the bonding level is substantially continuous over at least a portion of the laminate forming an extensible portion. The extensible portion is extensible in at least one direction, and has elongation to break of at least 250 percent, a stress at 100 percent elongation of greater than 300 N/cm<2>. The outer surface of the elastomeric film is directly bonded to the fibers of the nonwoven web without an intervening adhesive layer. The laminate has a useful extension range of grater than 100 percent which permits the laminate to be extended and recovered to at least this extent to form an elastic laminate without delamination or breakage of the nonwoven web.
