PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tyre tread from which a tyre having good rolling resistance and excellent abrasion resistance can be manufactured without increasing the compounding quantity of silica. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for a tyre tread is a rubber composition for a tyre tread which contains at least a diene rubber, carbon black, and silica, and 5-20 pts.mass powder of a non-sintered scallop shell having a particle diameter of not larger than 100μm is compounded to 100 pts.mass diene rubber.
