PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an artificial leather excellent in elasticity, capable of imparting the elasticity, especially the elasticity in lengthwise direction (≥15% elongation rate and≥80% elongation recovery rate) which can not be achieved by conventional methods, without lowering the surface character of the artificial leather. SOLUTION: This method for producing the artificial leather excellent in elasticity is characterized by bonding an elastic sheet stretched by≥15% in lengthwise and/or widthwise direction on an artificial leather substrate constituted mainly of a fiber interlaced material containing very fine fibers having≤0.9dtex monofilament fineness and a polymer elastomer, then releasing the stretch of the elastic sheet for shrinking the artificial leather, and then removing the elastic sheet.
