PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain trap easily mountable to a lead-in part of a drain pipe projected into a small recessed part on the lower side of a drain port, and its mounting method. SOLUTION: A valve trap unit 2 is provided with an openable/closable swing valve element 23 at an inclined tube port 22 of a short tubular body 21, a balance weight 27 for energizing the swing valve element 23 in a closing direction, and a flange part 23 formed at the upper end. In mounting such a valve trap unit 2 to the lead-in part 12 of the drain pipe 11 projected into the small recessed part 14 on the lower side of the drain port 13, an adaptor 3 formed of a water resistant or low water absorptive elastic material, formed in thick-walled cylinder shape with a circular hole passing through the center part, and formed with a step part 32 at the upper end of the circular hole 31 to fittingly fix the flange part 28 of the valve trap unit 2, is externally fitted and fixed to the drain pipe lead-in part 12, and then a caulking material 15 is filled in a clearance between the periphery of the adaptor 3 and the small recessed part 14.
