PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chat device capable of improving the convenience of a user who tries to participate in a chat by using a directory, and imposing a use restriction on the chart participation of each user. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a chat functioning part, a user information directory in which the information of a registered user is stored, a user information directory server part for managing a user information directory, and for retrieving and extracting information for each client, a chat station information directory in which the information associated with a chat station is stored and a chat station information directory server part for managing the chat station information directory, and for retrieving and extracting the information available for each client.
