POLYMER DISPERSED LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a distinct display by enhancing the contrast between a display color and a background color around the display in a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is constructed by: placing an upper transparent substrate 11 with an upper transparent electrode 13 formed thereon and a lower transparent substrate 12 with a lower transparent electrode 14 formed thereon opposite to each other via interposed spacers 15 and with a certain gap; and filling and enclosing a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal 16 between the substrates. Reflection balls 21 smaller than the spacers 15 are scattered and disposed between the upper transparent substrate 11 and the lower transparent substrate 12 with the polymer-dispersed liquid crystal 16 enclosed therein. The background color where the metallic color of the reflection balls is admixed is obtained and the high contrast between the display color and the background color is attained.
