PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information distribution system for distributing information stored by a server in a LAN through a WAN to a portable terminal such as a PDA for realizing the lending management of a terminal, and for preventing any unauthorized person who has acquired the terminal from performing access to secret information. SOLUTION: A user who tries to bring a shared portable terminal 100 to a remote place visits an identification server 101 installed at a place where only the legal user of this system is permitted to enter, and inserts a terminal into a cradle 101a (1). When necessary items such as user ID or the term of validity are inputted, a unique terminal identifier is integrated into the terminal (2). When the user performs access to an information server 102 in the LAN by presenting the identifier (3), the identification server 101 who has received a request from a server checks whether or not the term of validity has expired (4), (5), and when it is OK, the user is permitted to perform access (6).
