PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a benylphenol derivative that reveals excellent human SGLT1 (sodium dependent gluccose transportation carrier 1) activity-inhibitory action and is useful as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diseases caused by hyperglycemia, for example, diabetes, glucose tolerance disorder, fasting blood sugar disorder, diabetic complications, obesity, or the like, and is useful as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diseases caused by increase of galactose in blood, for example, galactosemia. SOLUTION: This invention is a compound represented by formula (I) [R<SP>1</SP>is OH, an alkyl which may be substituted; W-X-Y-N(R<SP>8</SP>)-Z (W is O, S or a single bond; X is an alkylene, or the like; Y is carbonyl, or the like; Z is H, an alkoxycarbonyl, or the like); R<SP>2</SP>-R<SP>5</SP>are each H, an alkyl, or the like; R<SP>6</SP>is H or an alkyl; R<SP>7</SP>is H, OH, or the like; G is a compound represented by formula (A) or by formula (B)] and a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof and their prodrugs.
