3-Phenoxy-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-coumarin compounds (I) are new. Coumarin derivatives of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1 = H, OH or 1-4C alkoxy; R2 = H or -CH2CH2NR2aR2b; R2a, R2b = 1-4C alkyl; NR2aR2b = 5- or 6-membered ring; R3, R6 = H or halo; R4 = H; R5 = H, halo, 1-4C alkoxy, phenoxy or benzyloxy; R4 + R5 = fused benzene ring. An Independent claim is included for the preparation of (I).
