<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device adaptable to the continuous output of a high density image, and whose running cost is reduced by uniformly taking in toner, as for a small-sized, low-priced developing device dispensing with a toner concentration sensor and a toner replenishing mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device is provided with a toner storing part 5 arranged communicating with a developer carrier 3 via a developer storing part 4 so as to store the toner to be supplied, a developer retreat part 7 arranged adjacent to the developer carrier 3 and on the downstream side in the developer carrying direction of the developer carrier 3 with respect to the developer storing part 4, and also, communicating with the developer storing part 4 via a circulation path 6, and a developer separating means 8 arranged on the downstream side in the developer carrying direction of the developer carrier 3 with respect to the developer storing part 4 and the developer retreat part 7, and for partly damming two-component developer carried by the developer carrier 3 as the surplus developer and separating the surplus developer into the developer storing part 4 or the developer retreat part 7 in accordance with the toner concentration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
