PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder and an image recording control method in which a recording material can be exposed efficiently based on image data even if missing of data transmission takes place as a result of difference between an image data transfer rate and an image data recording rate. SOLUTION: The image recorder comprises a first storage means 11 of a hard disc, a second storage means 12 having a storage mode different from that of the first storage means 11, an exposing section 2, a means 101 for measuring the rate of reading image data from the first storage means 11, and a control means 13 for reading out image data from the first storage means 11, storing the image data in the second storage means 12 and designating an image recording rate and an image recording density of a photosensitive material corresponding to the reading rate measured by the measuring means 101 to the exposing section 2.
