A miniature electronic device is formed very flat, and placed under the romper suit, nappy or vest of the infant, preferably fixed with a plaster or body wrap to the chest. Thus, the slightest movement of the stomach, the chest or pulsing of the arteries is sufficient to trigger a highly-sensitive movement sensor integrated into the electronic device.
