<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer controller which informs a host of a rough period of time required for printing immediately after issuance of a printing request by the host, to thereby solve such a problem that the user is kept waiting over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The printer controller 1 is comprised of an image output processing control section 11, an output remaining period measuring section 12, and an output remaining period notification control section 13. The image output processing control section 11 converts printing data transmitted from the host 4 connected to a network 3 into an image data. The output remaining period measuring section 12 measures a rough period of time required for outputting whenever the printing request is issued from the host 4, and the output remaining period notification control section 13 notifies the host 4 of the measured period of time. Then, the measuring section 12 measures a period of time which is closer to an actual period of time, based on an amount of the converted image data, and the notification control section 13 notifies the host of the remaining period of time required for outputting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
