METHOD FOR ESTIMATING MOTION FOR MOTION PICTURE COMPRESSION CODING AND RECODING MEDIUM THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method for estimating motion for motion picture compression coding and a recoding medium thereof are provided to find a motion vector at high speed without lowering a compression rate and the quality of a picture. CONSTITUTION: An initial motion position is supposed(1101). A new motion position is found out by executing a Newton-Raphson method by a target function of an MAD(Mean Absolute Difference) of the supposed motion position(1102). It is confirmed whether the new motion position is within a range smaller than the least error range with the supposed motion position(1103). If not, the new motion position is supposed as the initial motion position(1104). If so, the new motion position is regarded as a final motion position to decide a motion vector(1105).
