PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently ensure liquid-tightness of an expander roll having a plurality of metal cylindrical roll members. SOLUTION: A clearance-facing recessed portion 19 is formed in an outer circumferential surface of a ring-shaped elastic packing 17 to close a space 18 between adjacent cylindrical roll members 6A and 6B. Recessed portions 21 of the required number are further provided on both side portions of the space-facing recessed portion 19 to form a pleat-shaped portion 22. An outer circumferential surface of the pleat-shaped portion 22 is fixed to inner circumferential surfaces of the cylindrical roll members 6A and 6B on the same side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
