PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat slide supporting structure for a chair of which the structure is simplified, of which the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and at the same time, which can easily realize a required strength. SOLUTION: This seat slide supporting structure for the chair comprises a saddle 2 made of a resin which is horizontally supported on the upper end part of a leg pole 1, a sliding shoe 10 which is fixed to both side edges of the saddle formed of a synthetic resin having a light frictional resistance, a slide panel 20 made of a sheet metal having a square box shape which has an open lower surface, a pair of lateral rack members 40 which are fixed under a lateral rack form in the longitudinal direction in the slide panel, and a coil spring 15. In this case, the slide panel 20 is fixed to the lower side of a seat part, and is longitudinally slidably supported on the saddle through the sliding shoe. The coil spring 15 is stretched between the saddle and the slide panel in order to urge the slide panel forward. For the slide shoe, a U-shaped part 11 to cover both side edges of the saddle is formed. The upper surface and the external surface of the U-shaped parts are brought into slide-contact with the lower surface of a bottom plate 21 and internal surfaces of both side plates 22 of the slide panel.
