PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set parameters such as an IP address, a port number, a user ID and a password in a device of an access point or the like while maintaining confidentiality. SOLUTION: A parameter setting system comprises a first transmission step in which a WWW server transmits, to a WWW browser through the access point, the parameters to be set in the device, the name of a program for setting the parameters in the device and a WWW page embedded with a reserved word for starting the program, a receiving step in which the WWW browser receives the page, a second transmission step in which the WWW browser transmits the parameters, the name of the program and the reserved word embedded in the page to the access point, and a starting step in which the access point gives the parameters to the program to start the program on the basis of the parameters, the name of the program and the reserved word.
