PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the belt noise by decomposing an engagement primary component generated between a block and a pulley. SOLUTION: In this block type V belt, a pair of left and right fitting grooves 2 are formed on both side parts of the block, endless tension belts 10 are respectively fitted to the pair of fitting grooves, and a plurality of blocks are locked to the pair of tension belts 10 at equal pitches in the longitudinal direction. The block is composed of a base block 1a kept into contact with the pulley face at its both side faces and a dummy block 1b not kept into contact with the pulley face at its both side faces, and the dummy block 1b is dispersed and mixed in the base block 1a by a ratio of 20 % or more.
