PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a suitable communication path without complicated operations to perform highly reliable communications in a communication device corresponding to an analog communication path and a network communication path of audio bands. SOLUTION: When a telephone number of a counter station (107) is corresponding to a VoIP network, a communication device 105 for performing IP communications and analog communications via an ADSL gateway 106 acquires an IP address of the counter station from a SIP proxy server 103 and exchanges communication data on an IP network 101 by a file transmission/reception protocol such as FTP or HTTP. When the telephone number of a counter station (113) is not corresponding to VoIP, analog facsimile communications are performed on a line switched network 102. When the counter station (107) is corresponding to VoIP network but does not have a digital communication function, analog facsimile communications are performed on the VoIP network or the line switched network 102.
