PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which executes stable tracking servo irrespective of a disk type or a pit depth. SOLUTION: The amplitude of a DPD type tracking error signal V<SB>DPD</SB>indicating a phase difference among a plurality of detecting signals provided from a photodetector 84, and the amplitude of a PP type tracking error signal V<SB>PP</SB>indicating a level difference among the plurality of detecting signals are compared with reference values Vref1, Vref2 by comparators 105a, 105b.
