PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a plurality of optical beams, which keeps down costs, and prevents a decrease in productivity of printing for image formation, even in the performance of correction of a main scanning ratio between pages. SOLUTION: A pixel clock generating part, which provides commonality of a means for generating a high-frequency clock, and the image forming apparatus with it comprise: a means for generating the high-frequency clock; a pixel clock generating means which divides the high-frequency clock generated from the means for generating the high-frequency clock, and enables any one of clocks with a reference period, a period shorter than the reference period and a period longer than the reference period to be designated as a pixel clock; a means for inputting the designated clock from the pixel clock generating means so as to generate a signal synchronized with the pixel clock; and a means for controlling designated information per pixel for the pixel clock generating means.
