PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CARBON ARTICLES BY USING WASTE TIRE POWDER

PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing carbon articles excellent in chemical resistance and corrosion resistance and used as a metallurgical crucible by using waste tire powder. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the steps of: mixing the water tire powder produced by carbonizing and grinding and an oxidized pitch powder having a softening point of 280deg.C or higher and an inside oxygen content of 5-20wt%, in the ratio of 1-10:90-99wt%; press-molding the mixture under a pressure of 100-2000kg/cm2 to prepare the articles; and calcining the articles under the inert atmosphere at 800-1000deg.C for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
