PURPOSE: A method for displaying a subscriber state of a main unit of a key phone system is provided to inform an extension state of a subscriber to an operator or a subscriber of a different extension. CONSTITUTION: A program of a controller sets a basic set time value set for each maintenance time and corresponding display information(S1). The controller detects a state of each extension subscriber(S2). A timer manager of the controller drives a timer corresponding to a state of a corresponding extension subscriber(S3). The controller reads the basic set time value set for each maintenance time(S4) and compares a time value of the driven timer and the corresponding basic set time value(S5). If the time value of the timer exceeds the basic set time value, the controller reads display information corresponding to the basic set time value(S6) and informs an operator or a different subscriber extension about it by a display unit according to the read display information(S7).
