PURPOSE: A data storage device is provided to include a storage medium and a contact probe, while the storage medium includes the first polymeric layer and the second polymeric layer on the first polymeric layer, so that the first polymeric layer is electrically conductive and the contact probe is faced with the second polymeric layer, thereby decreasing wear on tips of the storage medium while realizing a quick data reading speed. CONSTITUTION: A data storage device(210) comprises as follows. The first polymeric layer(218) is comprised. The second polymeric layer(120) is deposited on the first polymeric layer(218). A contact probe(112) is faced with the second polymeric layer(120). The first polymeric layer(218) is electrically conductive. The contact probe(112) causes a phase change of the second polymeric layer(120) during a recording process. The second polymeric layer(120) is electrically conductive, and the phase change includes an indentation of the second polymeric layer(120), which is not extended to the first polymeric layer(218).
