PURPOSE: A call transfer system in an Internet phone system having multiple ports and a method therefor are provided to provide an Internet telephony system with a call transfer service such as a general exchange. CONSTITUTION: When a user 'A'(201) holds a call, a system recognizes it(TRCP_ON_HOOK_REQ) and issues a call transfer command(S203,S204). The user 'A'(201) transfers a message including an H.323 subscriber transfer ID code(H323_USER_TRANSFER_IND) to a user 'B'(202)(S205) and receives a response message(H323_USER_TRANSFER_ACK_REQ) from the user 'B'(202)(S206). The user 'B' requests a setup from a user 'C'(203)(S207). The user 'C'(203) transfers a call release completion message to the user 'A'(201)(S208) and sends a standby command message(ALERT) to the user 'B'(202). The user 'B'(202) sends a call release message to the user 'A'(201)(S210). The user 'C' sends a connection message to the user 'B'(202)(S211) and the user 'B' and the user 'C' are connected for call communication(S212).
