PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear pump capable of restricting increase of a bearing load and shaft power, restricting vibration and noises, and reducing mass of a gear. SOLUTION: This gear pump comprises a housing having an intake space 12 communicated with an intake port and a delivery space 14 communicated with a delivery port, a drive gear 2 comprising external tooth parts 20 provided in line in a circumferential direction, and a follower gear 3 comprising external tooth parts 30 provided in line in a circumferential direction. In an engagement surface 26 forming the tooth parts 20 of the drive gear 2, a communication passage 7 is formed to communicate volume-changeable closed space 80 formed by the tooth parts 20 of the drive gear 2 and the tooth parts 30 of the follower gear 3 with the delivery space 14. An oil or other high pressure working fluid in the closed space 80 is thus capable of reaching the delivery space 14 through the communication passage 7.
