PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rough surface wire which has the surface property with tactually rough surface feeling, and the friction coefficient satisfying≥0.70 in a wet condition, and is hardly slipped, and to provide a rough surface wire manufacturing method capable of manufacturing the rough surface wire by arbitrarily adjusting the surface properties such as surface roughness and appearance. SOLUTION: In the rough surface wire, a rough surface portion 1a of the wire surface has a recessed portion 1b at least attributable to dents. In the rough surface wire manufacturing method, the wire is allowed to run, the surface of the running wire is blasted to form the rough surface portion formed of the recessed portion at least attributable to dents on the wire surface.
