摘要 A chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process manufactures carbon nano-fiber in a reactor (10) assembly with a reactor vessel (11) holding a catalyst (12) that promotes fiber formation. The catalyst reacts with a gas (18). The vessel has a catalyst inlet (14) and a fiber outlet (13) linked by a conveyer (40) e.g. conveyer belt (50). An Independent claim is included for a CVD carbon nano-fiber production reactor with a second inlet (15) for the reaction gas and a second outlet (17) for residual reaction gas (30). The catalyst is a metal, a metal oxide, metal particle, metal oxide particle or a combination of these e.g. based on iron (e.g. Fe2O3) nickel, copper or cobalt. Prior to use, the catalyst must be reduced to minimize the risk of fire and explosion. The reaction gas is methane, ethane, ethene, ethyne, carbon monoxide or similar.
