PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably supply ash to an ash melting furnace, and to reduce sticking ash in the furnace. SOLUTION: Ash input nozzles are arranged in a plurality in the ash melting furnace. A control system is arranged for switching a position of the ash input nozzles arranged in a plurality and controlling an ash input quantity by a discharge state of melting slag, an ash processing quantity, a furnace inside temperature and a growth degree of ash sticking in the furnace. The ash can be stably carried in the ash melting furnace, and since growth of sticking ash in the furnace can be restrained, the ash melting furnace can be stably operated over a long time. This invention is particularly effective in operating the ash melting furnace for melting and processing a large quantity of ash having a high melting point such as ash processing in a dust coal thermal power plant.
