PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a desired passing position of a beam by preventing a misoperation of a sensor and to obtain a desired sensitivity of the sensor. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, lengths in a sub-scanning direction of timing sensors at a beam light detection section are made to be unequal and a length of a beam pass-through position detecting sensor at a light receiving section of the beam light detection section is made to be longer than the length of the timing sensor.
