<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of surface fogging, toner scattering and defective buildup of electrostatic charge at the time of toner replenishment, with respect to an electrostatic charge image developing toner to which an external additive has been added. <P>SOLUTION: With respect to an electrostatic charge image developing toner obtained by adding an external additive to matrix toner particles consisting essentially of a binder resin and a colorant, when the toner is housed in a toner vessel for replenishment, samples of the toner are taken out at different ten or more positions in the vessel, and the highest and lowest values of contents of at least one of the elements N, Zn, Si, Cl, Cu and Ti detected by XPS element analysis of toner sample surfaces are represented by A and B, respectively, a value calculated by expression (1) is adjusted to ≤30. The resulting electrostatic charge image developing toner can suppress surface fogging and toner scattering because uneven distribution of the external additive in the entire toner is regulated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
