PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber washing device and washing method of simple configuration to eliminate the need for adjusting the holding position of an optical fiber in spite of a fluctuation in liquid level of a washing liquid and to prevent a fiber coating from being wet with the washing liquid even when used on a ship or the like which pitches and rolls. SOLUTION: The optical fiber washing device in which the coating removing portion at the end of the glass-fiber cord or multiple optical fiber is immersed into the washing liquid to wash the fiber by ultrasonic vibrations is equipped with a float 25 to be floated within the washing liquid 23 in a washing tub 22 and a holding section 26 for immersing the coating removing portion 20 of the optical fiber 20 into the washing liquid and holding the same at the float 25.
