<p>A print roller (1) is divided into print zones (2) by grooves, or is divided into a spiral zone by a spiral groove. The edge shoulders of the grooves, and the end shoulders (22) of the roller, are profiled to reduce the lateral spread of ink, especially into the grooves where a build up of ink can cause splashing onto the print material. The profiling has a flat sloping section at an angle to 5 to 10 deg. to the outer surface of the roller. The deeper end of the sloping profiles can have curved profiles. The deepest part of the profiling is about 0.1mm from the surface of the roller.</p> |
