TWO-DIMENSIONAL PHOTONIC CRYSTAL OPTICAL MULTIPLEXER/DEMULTIPLEXER UTILIZING BOUNDARY RFLECTION

摘要

An in-plane heterostructure two-dimensional photonic crystal optical multiplexer/demultiplexer in which voids (32) are arranged periodically at a period different for each band gap region (301, 302, ...), a waveguide (33) is formed by removing the voids (32) linearly, and a spot defect (341, 342, ...) is formed in each band gap region. Demultiplexing efficiency of light being taken out from a spot defect can be enhanced by introducing a light passed through the spot defect and reflected off a band gap region boundary (351, 352, ...) to a specified spot defect.
