A colorant for ocular lenses represented by the following formula (1): <CHEM> wherein A and B are each selected from the group consisting of halogens, a cyano group, a nitro group, alkyl groups, alkylsulfonyl groups and alkoxy groups; R represents a linear or branched alkylene having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; and Z is selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acryl group, a vinyl group, an allyl group and a chemical structure having such a polymerizable group.
