Arylsulfatase inhibitors in deodorants and antiperspirants

The use of aryl sulfatase inhibitor(s) (I) is claimed in cosmetic deodorant or antiperspirant compositions (A) for reducing body odor caused by hydrolytic decomposition of steroid esters, where (I) are selected from (a) plant extracts, (b) perfumes, (c) flavonoids, (d) isoflavonoids, (e) polyphenols and/or (f) 6,7-disubstituted 2,2-dialkyl-chromans or chromenes. An Independent claim is included for a corresponding method of inhibiting body odor, involving application of (A) to the skin, especially in the axillary region, the amount and/or nature of (I) preferably being selected in sex-specific manner.
