PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for utilizing a member formed of embrittled carbon steel which is used in an ammonium manufacturing process, hydrocyanic synthesis, an acrylonitrile manufacturing process by and ammoxidation of propylene and the like with a surface portion nitrided by nascent nitrogen generated by decomposition of high-temperature and high-pressure ammonium by restoring the ductility thereof. SOLUTION: A member formed of carbon steel nitrided and embrittled by high-temperature and high-pressure ammonium is heat-treated in oxygen-containing gas at a temperature of 550-1,000°C for 0.5-7 hours, and then, reused.
