PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tungsten alloy having oxidation resistance in which oxidation is suppressed, and the properties of a high melting point characteristics of tungsten are utilized by alloying tungsten with the other metals, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: As a method of improving the oxidation resistance of a tungsten alloy 1 composed of tungsten, chromium and a platinum group element and used in a high temperature atmosphere containing oxygen, the oxygen content is controlled to≤300 mass ppm. The surface of the material is provided with a firm oxidation resistant film 2 of 1 to 100μm composed of tungsten, chromium, a platinum group element and oxygen for disturbing the diffusion of the oxygen from the high temperature atmosphere to the inside of the material.
