PURPOSE: An MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service) method is provided to transmit only a header of a message to be transmitted by a transmission MMS user agent and a telephone number of a receiving MMS user agent to a transmitting MMS server, thereby reducing a forwarding time of a message. CONSTITUTION: An MMS terminal transmits an index value of a message header to be transmitted, to an MMS server. The MMS server receiving the index value retrieves a message having the same message index value as the received index value of the message header among messages which are received and stored in the MMS sever. The MMS server sets a receiving telephone number to the retrieved message, and transmits the message. If the received index value is '0', the MMS server receives entire data information of the message.
