PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill exchanger for simplifying and making compact a configuration for distributing small-amount paper money to two storage sections without providing any second conveyance paths and switching gates, and reliably accumulating even old small-amount paper money that has winkles or is bent in a second storage section. SOLUTION: Small-amount paper money received by an acceptance opening 52 at the bill exchanger 50 is conveyed to a first storage section 53 by a conveyance path 55. When a fixed-amount detection means 61 detects that the small-amount paper money stored at the first storage section 53 is full, a storage section take-in means 56 can forcibly take in the small-amount paper money from the acceptance opening 52 to a second storage section 54 near the acceptance opening 52 in a direction that opposes the paper surface with the detection as conditions.
